The Journalists Association of Bhutan
The Journalist Association (JAB) of Bhutan is a non-political and non-profit organisation formally launched in February 2012.
Among many others, JAB’s overarching mandates are to promote professionalism in the field of journalism, uphold freedom of expression and media, protect and promote right to information, maintain high ethical standards in the practice of journalism and protect journalists from hazards such as threats, harassments, litigation etc.
Elected office bearers – president, general secretary, and treasurer – including a group of steering committee members oversee the operations of JAB. The office bearers are answerable to the steering committee. Read more
A three-member complaints redressal committee was formed in September 2014 to look into complaints from members and public at large. The committee will review any complaints regarding violations of the rights of journalists and take necessary actions.
The Fund Raising Committee, comprising three board members, oversees JAB’s fund raising efforts. The Committee is responsible for building networks and support system to ensure JAB’s long-term sustainability.
