Among many others, JAB’s overarching mandates are to promote professionalism in the field of journalism, uphold freedom of expression and media, protect and promote right to information, maintain high ethical standards in the practice of journalism and protect journalists from hazards such as threats, harassments, litigation etc.
Elected office bearers - president, general secretary, and treasurer - including a group of steering committee members oversee the operations of JAB. The office bearers are answerable to the steering committee.
JAB depends on funds mobilized through partnership with Bhutan Media Foundation, Department of Information and Media, and other relevant local and international organizations working on media development.
Currently, JAB is in the process of registering itself as a Civil Society Organization while also being actively engaged in the promotion of professionalism in the field of journalism.
